Wrapped In Waves is a marine-biologist-owned brand built on a simple belief: the ocean is full of stories worth sharing, and science can be a beautiful way to tell them.

My name is Kyla, and I am a marine mammal biologist who has spent my career studying whales, dolphins, and seals and the underwater world they depend on. Through this work, I have seen the ocean in its most meaningful moments. Wrapped In Waves grew out of these experiences and from a desire to make marine science more accessible, more beautiful, and more personal.

Science Rooted. Design Driven.

Every Wrapped In Waves product begins with real marine science.

Spectrograms created from recordings of whale, dolphin, and seal vocalizations. Field notes and observations from surveys. Species identification details used by researchers. Inspiration drawn from my time on the water and underwater.

These designs come from real data and lived experience. My goal is to share ocean science in a way that is both accurate and beautiful.

About Me

I am Kyla, a senior marine mammal biologist, freediver, and lifelong student of the ocean.

My work has included:
• Conducting visual and acoustic marine mammal surveys (ship, shore-based, and aerial, including drone-based) on a number of species around the world.
• Working in remote coastal environments ranging from the tropics to the Arctic.
• Communicating ocean science to diverse audiences.

Wrapped In Waves allows me to share the science and stories I love in a creative and accessible way.
